大谷口 Oyaguchi

天神山から見た大谷口です。手前の電線は常磐線のもので、中央付近を左右に通っているのが流鉄（流山電気鉄道株式会社、現在の流鉄株式会社）の線路、そのすぐ向こう側が新坂川です。黄色の矢印で示したのは昭和28年12月に廃止された大谷口駅です。

大谷口駅の右側にある林のような小高い丘は小金（大谷口）城址の一角です。本城があったのはこの辺りです。

赤丸で囲った場所には弁天様が祀られていました。個人の敷地内に祀られていたもので、平戸弁天（いぼ弁天）とは別の弁天様です。昔は大谷口七弁天といって、弁天様が祀られていた場所が何ヶ所もあったそうです。

These are photos of Oyaguchi taken from the top of Tenjin-yama. In the foreground are the electric lines of the Joban Line, running left and right near the center is the track of Ryutetsu (Nagareyama Electric Railway Co., Ltd., now Ryutetsu Co., Ltd.), and just beyond the Ryutetsu line is Shinsakagawa River. The yellow arrow indicates Oyaguchi Station, which was discontinued in December 1953.

The wooded hill to the right of Oyaguchi Station is a part of the Kogane (Oyaguchi) Castle site. The main building was located around here.

A Benzaiten (Sarasvati, a Hindu origin goddess of learning and arts) was enshrined at the place circled in red. It was in the compound of a private individual and was a different Benten from the one known as Hirado Benten or wart-off Benten. In the past, there were several places where Benten was enshrined. Those were called the Seven Benten in Oyaguchi.
